AMMAN — Police on Saturday arrested
two suspects in Al-Karama district in the Jordan Valley for alleged kidnapping
and plotted
murder.

A lawyer who happened to be at the
crime scene risked his life to rescue the man, who, according to sources, works
a shared taxi driver operating on Jabal Al-Hussein route in Amman.
The lawyer, Mohammad Munwer Al-Saaideh,
told Al-Ghad daily, that the suspects attacked the driver and pushed him into
the trunk of a taxi, then headed on Road 60, overlooking the town and leading
to the Jordan Valley. He noticed the trunk closing and opening involuntarily,
while the taxi accelerated to 170km/h.
The lawyer managed to cut the
taxi off
and bring it to a halt, but not without his vehicle being struck, resulting in
Saaideh’s car rolling over. The suspects exited the taxi and fled on foot.
Saidah added that as soon as the civil
defense came onto the scene, they found the victim in a “miserable condition
inside the car trunk.”
