Judiciary considers first case of fake news with earthquake audio recording

AMMAN – The Amman Magistrate Court is considering its first cybercrime case covered by the new amendments to the Cybercrimes Law, which came into effect at the beginning of September.  اضافة اعلان

The defendants are accused of spreading fake news through an audio recording about the occurrence of a widespread destructive earthquake. The Public Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation into the defendants in a misdemeanor case referred to it by the Cybercrimes Unit and was later referred to the Amman Magistrates Court where it is currently under consideration, as reported by Ammon News.
