Jordan celebrates King Abdullah's 61st birthday

AMMAN — On Monday, Jordan celebrated the 61st birthday of His Majesty King Abdullah.

King Abdullah was named Crown Prince by a Royal Decree issued on January 24, 1999, assumed the throne on February 7, 1999 following the passing of his father King Hussein.

For His Majesty’s birthday, the Royal Court published a video of His Majesty's commenting: "Wishing His Majesty King Abdullah II a happy 61st birthday.”

According to a Royal Court statement, His Majesty King Abdullah received cables of well wishes on his 61st birthday from heads of state and government.

King Abdullah received similar cables from senior officials and officers, and representatives of civil society organizations.
