Jordan is participating in the 52nd Session of the Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore (IGC), convened by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva from March 4 to 13, 2026.

Jordan is represented at these meetings by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Culture, Dr. Nidal Al-Ahmad. The session discusses several agenda items, primarily the protection of traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions, in addition to issues related to genetic resources and intellectual property.
The meetings address various documents and draft texts concerning the establishment of an international framework for the protection of traditional knowledge and cultural expressions. Furthermore, they explore the participation of local and indigenous communities in the committee’s work, along with mechanisms to support them and safeguard their intellectual and cultural heritage.
Jordan’s participation reflects its commitment to following international efforts aimed at protecting cultural and intellectual heritage and enhancing international cooperation in intellectual property fields related to genetic resources and traditional knowledge.
