Health minister inaugurates Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training Center

AMMAN - Minister of Health, Dr. Firas Hawari, on Thursday inaugurated the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training Center accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA), which was established by the Ministry of Health with support of US Agency for International Development (USAID).اضافة اعلان

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Hawari stressed the need to support the newly-launched center to be a training nucleus to all Jordanian hospitals and health directorates, on the basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation program, and contribute to improving the quality of health services , especially in emergency wards.

The ministry, in a press statement, said the training center, which is supervised by the Nursing Directorate at the Ministry of Health, aims to develop life support skills for all medical and nursing staff training teams and support medical professions, to deal with sudden cardiac arrest cases and provide urgent medical care for emergency vascular cases within the global standards.

The new center will prepare a future plan to train about 3000 beneficiaries from all health staff in the near future, which includes the center's basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation program, in addition to the ACLS programs for adults, and the PALS program for children later, the statement added.

The statement indicated that the Local Health System Sustainability Project (LHSS), a USAID's flagship initiative in integrated health systems strengthening, contributed to training 450 resident doctors, nurses and health cadres working in the Ministry of Health's hospitals, including field ones.

The LHSS, implemented simultaneously with the inauguration of the resuscitation training center, was provided with modern training materials during 2020, which include books and educational videos, the statement noted.

The new center has 8 trainers, accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) at the "required" level. All training courses are directly run by AHA-accredited nurse coordinators to follow up the training procedures within the "latest" international standards to ensure training quality to achieve the "desired" goals, aimed to preserving the citizens' lives in sudden cardiac arrest cases, the statement added.
