Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi took part on Wednesday in the opening session of the Munich Leaders’ Meeting titled “Striving for Common Ground: The Middle East in a Multipolar World.” The session also featured Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration Dr. Badr Abdelatty, and French President’s Special Envoy to Lebanon Jean-Yves Le Drian, in AlUla, Saudi Arabia.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Safadi held discussions with several of his regional and international counterparts on strengthening bilateral relations, with a focus on efforts to end the Israeli aggression on Gaza.
Safadi stressed during the meetings the urgent need for concerted efforts to stop the Israeli aggression against Gaza, end the famine it is causing, and launch a genuine drive to achieve a just peace based on the two-state solution in accordance with international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.
He reiterated appreciation for the sincere efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump to end the war, highlighting the importance of U.S. partnership in achieving regional peace. He also welcomed President Trump’s announcement regarding his proposal to end the war, rebuild Gaza, prevent the displacement of the Palestinian people, advance comprehensive peace, and his declaration that he would not allow the annexation of the West Bank.
Safadi further discussed during the meetings the efforts to support reconstruction in Syria, bolster stability in Lebanon, and address a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
He also met with Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georgi Georgiev, Lebanese National Defense Minister General Michel Mansi, German State Minister at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development Niels Annen, and German State Minister at the Ministry of Defense Nils Hilmer.
Additionally, he met with French President’s Special Envoy to Lebanon Jean-Yves Le Drian, NATO Secretary-General’s Special Representative for the Southern Neighborhood Javier Colomina, First Vice-Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs Hannah Jalloul, and U.S. State Department Senior Official for Near Eastern Affairs Moira Namdar.
