In its monthly report, the council said its president, HRH Prince Mired bin Raad bin Zeid, in a meeting with Special UN Rapporteur on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Gerard Quinn, reviewed Jordan’s achievements in legislation and policies, including constitutional amendments, amendments to the parties and elections laws, the issuance of the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and a package of policies and executive plans whose implementation began more than four years ago.

According to the report, the council issued regulations concerning identification cards, the formation of the evaluation and diagnosis committees for persons with disabilities, the mechanism for submitting an application, and electronic instructions for the year 2022, issued under Article 4 of the e-transaction law.

After the Cabinet adopted the regulations, the council started to coordinate with concerned entities to incorporate them in the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

The council, in cooperation with CBM Global Disability Inclusion, organized the reception “Planning today for an inclusive tomorrow” with the aim of exchanging expertise in the field of inclusive community-based development for the integration of persons with disabilities in society.

The ceremony was attended by more than 200 experts representing public, private, voluntary and civil society institutions, and international organizations, it noted.

In addition to issuing IDs to hundreds of people with disabilities and admitting more than 250 students with abilities to universities, in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the report said the council granted privileges to people with disabilities in other fields and partner entities.
