Arab-Islamic committee meets with Russian FM to discuss Gaza

MOSCOW – The ministerial committee appointed by the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit held an official meeting with the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov on Tuesday to discuss the ongoing massacre in the Gaza Strip.   اضافة اعلان

Lavrov praised the efforts of the ministerial committee towards achieving an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and affirmed Russia’s commitment to a ceasefire in conjunction with international law and UN resolutions. 

He condemned the collective punishment of civilians in the Gaza Strip, considering it a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and emphasized the importance of taking action to stop all violations.

Lavrov also expressed his country's support for creating conditions for a comprehensive peace process in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions and the 2022 Arab Initiative for a two-state solution.

Subsequently, the members of the ministerial committee, which included Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi,  Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Sameh Shoukry, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Palestine, Riyad al-Maliki and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Retno Marsudi, emphasized the importance of taking effective and urgent measures by members of the Security Council and the international community to immediately stop the gunfire in the Gaza Strip. 

The ministerial committee members also emphasized the immediate need to lift the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip, release prisoners and hostages, and activate a serious and just peace process supported by international legitimacy references.

The ministerial committee members called on the international community to fulfill its responsibility by rejecting all forms of selectivity in the application of international legal and ethical standards. Pointing out that the continued violations of international law by the Israeli occupation, weaken the legitimacy of the international system.
