In a firm and deeply meaningful stance, His Majesty King Abdullah II’s speech before the United Nations General Assembly carried clear strategic messages, reaffirming the centrality of the Palestinian cause in Jordan’s policy and openly rejecting Israel’s ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people.

Political analysts told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) today that His Majesty’s address made it clear that the concept of peace no longer has a place in the policies of the current Israeli government.
They noted that the speech highlighted Israel’s approach that drives the region toward further tension and undermines prospects for a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, based on international legitimacy and the two-state solution.
Former Palestinian Ambassador Dr. Ribhi Halloum said King Abdullah II’s speech delivered a decisive stance against Israel’s ongoing aggression on Palestinian lands and placed the international community before its moral and political responsibilities.
He added that the speech reflected a deep understanding of the repercussions of what is happening in Gaza, the West Bank, and other occupied territories, pointing out that His Majesty warned of the expanding scope of conflict if Israel continues its practices amid international silence that worsens the crisis.
He noted that His Majesty called for immediate international action to stop violations and end the occupation, stressing that the continued absence of accountability poses a threat to regional stability and undermines peace prospects.
Halloum concluded by emphasizing that the speech presented a clear vision for ending the occupation based on international law and sent a direct message to the international community to act seriously in protecting the Palestinian people and curbing Israel’s ongoing arrogance.
For his part, Dr. Badr Al-Madi, Professor of Political Sociology at the German Jordanian University, said His Majesty’s address carried strategic messages affirming that the Palestinian cause remains at the heart of Jordan’s identity and its political decision-making.
He pointed out that His Majesty spoke on behalf of Palestine, the peoples of the Middle East, and humanity at large when addressing the dimensions of the regional crisis.
He added that His Majesty outlined key concepts for understanding the nature of the conflict, stressing that the time has come to move toward genuine solutions. Any further delay, he said, would undermine peace prospects and fuel more violence. He underscored that Israel’s logic of power cannot lead to lasting peace, but only to more destruction.
He also highlighted that His Majesty proudly referenced the pioneering role of the Jordanian Armed Forces – the Arab Army – in supporting the Palestinian people, including doctors, medical staff, nurses, and pilots, who have helped alleviate the suffering of the people of Gaza.
Political analyst Dr. Mundher Al-Hawarat said His Majesty’s UN speech focused clearly on the conflict in the Middle East, particularly Israel’s ongoing aggression against Jerusalem and the West Bank, and the massacres in Gaza, including policies of starvation and systematic killing of civilians.
He added that the King’s address offered a counter-narrative to Israel’s discourse built on the “right of power,” which claims that military strength grants Israel legitimacy and superiority, thus justifying its unilateral actions.
He noted that His Majesty emphasized that international law, state sovereignty, and people’s rights are the foundations upon which justice must be built—not the logic of force. He stressed that the lack of stability in the region is a direct result of ignoring these principles, especially the international community’s continued neglect of the Palestinian cause.
He pointed out that His Majesty called on the world not to settle for raising slogans of peace in international forums without achieving tangible results on the ground, emphasizing that Jordan, through this speech, reaffirmed its commitment to political and diplomatic solutions and rejected Israel’s narrative of imposing realities by force.
Al-Hawarat stressed that His Majesty reiterated that the two-state solution is the only path to achieving security and stability in the region, and that true peace cannot be realized without the Palestinian people gaining their legitimate rights, foremost among them the establishment of their independent state.
He concluded by noting that His Majesty’s address cemented Jordan’s image as a country assuming its moral and political responsibility in defending Palestinian rights and standing against Israeli violations. He added that the phrase His Majesty ended his speech with—“The time has come for peace to become a reality”—summarized the political and humanitarian messages contained in the address. – (Petra)
