Now that the cold rainy days are heading our way, sweaters, hoodies, rain boots, fuzzy socks, and jackets will soon be snatched from closets and cupboards, peppering streets as workers, walkers, and schoolchildren bundle up to keep warm. Still, there is nothing cozier than curling up under a warm blanket with your favorite movie or book and a mug containing a hot winter drink to warm your fingers as you sip.

Here is a list of warm, delicious, and nourishing winter beverages served in local cafes to keep you comfy and cozy during the coming winter cold spells.

Pumpkin spice latte / Trasimeno Coffee
Now, it is officially fall, or what some people call “pumpkin spice latte (PSL) season”. Crafted with pumpkin puree, fall spices, steamed dairy or plant-based milk, and of course, espresso, the PSL is the best way to start a cold day, combining a caffeine kick with cozy fall flavors. The spice mix — ginger, nutmeg, allspice, and cinnamon — will get you ready for even colder temperatures with memories of snowflakes, flannel sheets, and the Christmas season.

Trasimeno Coffee is well-known for its pumpkin spice latte, which it prepares with a variety of milk options — the coconut milk PSL is definitely worth a try!

Toffee crunch latte / Astrolabe
Astrolabe has a calm and comfy atmosphere that will help you to focus and power through your checklist. On rainy days when you are swamped with work or homework, what could be better than a hot toffee crunch latte to keep you warm and focused?

Astrolabe’s version has a buttery, rich flavor combined with the creamy comfort of steamed milk and a healthy dose of espresso to charge your battery. Topped with whipped cream, drizzled with caramel, and dusted with toffee, the drink will definitely satisfy a sweet tooth.  So, if you are a fan of caramel and caffeine, the toffee crunch latte is the drink for you.

Winter spice / Dimitri’s
No matter how cold it is outside, Dimitri’s winter spice drink will keep you warm. The name comes from a signature mix of cinnamon, ginger, and cloves, which are combined with hot fresh milk and sweetness to tantalize your taste buds. The spices are not only delicious, but will also help you to strengthen your immunity and fight off any flus or colds that you pick up this winter season, as they are loaded with anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties. If you have fallen sick or simply love the flavor of winter spices, this drink will certainly do the trick.

Hot chocolate with marshmallows / Qahwa BLK
Qahwa BLK is a local favorite that offers a variety of hot and cold drinks. With winter approaching, a steaming mug of hot chocolate is a must-drink, and the sight and scent of melting marshmallows make it that much more appealing.

No doubt homemade hot chocolate with marshmallows is tasty and easy enough to make, but if you are craving a rich, silky, and premium cup of cocoa, stop by Qahwa BLK.

Sahlab / Abo Saleh
Almost all Jordanians have tried a drink from Abo Saleh, which is one of the most popular local coffee shops in the country. If you have not tried Abo Saleh yet, winter is the best time to do so, as it serves a special drink popular in Jordan and other parts of the Middle East: Sahlab.

Sahlab is a warm and creamy drink with hints of rose. Because of its pudding-like consistency, a steaming cup of Sahlab can be either sipped or eaten with a spoon. The drink is often garnished with honey, cinnamon, and nuts, such as pistachios or walnuts.
