The 34-year-old ended his international career with Brazil following the Seleção's 2-1 defeat to Norway in the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Neymar scored a penalty to reduce the deficit, but it was not enough to prevent elimination. He left the pitch in tears after the final whistle.

Neymar remains under contract with his beloved club Santos until December.
Responding to a question about his future during a charity auction he organized in São Paulo, Brazil's all-time leading scorer said:

"When my contract ends, I'll think about staying with Santos, leaving, or stopping playing. I honestly don't know what I'll do."

The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star, whose recent years have been plagued by injuries, added:
"We're taking it step by step, one match at a time. I feel like I'm in good physical condition."

The same question was put to his father and agent, Neymar da Silva Santos, who joked:
"Neymar loves playing football. What else would he do? He doesn't have a medical degree yet, so he'll keep playing."

Neymar has often been criticized for his lifestyle. Most recently, he faced backlash for participating in a poker tournament while his Santos teammates were playing a Copa Sudamericana match in Venezuela.

Santos are scheduled to face Ecuador's Macará next week in the Round of 16 of the Copa Sudamericana.
