According to the Jordan Football Association’s (JFA) official website, the Kingdom’s team will be joined by their counterparts from Lithuania, Lebanon and Armenia, and are set to begin their journey in the tournament with a match against Lithuania on April 7; followed by two more games against Armenia and Lebanon on April 10, and April 12, respectively.

David Nascimento, technical coach of the women’s football team, said he was optimistic about their upcoming appearance in the tournament, in an official statement on the JFA’s website.

“This is the team’s first (step) in the preparatory stage. We must make sure to achieve the championship’s desired objectives and focus on the players’ performance, in addition to applying the techniques, which we have practiced over the previous period,” Nascimento explained.

The coach added that he and the national team’s technical staff have attended all of the U17 women’s league matches, which kicked off earlier this month, noting that several players “stood out” and have the may potentially be scouted for the national team.

“…We were hoping to expand our options and add new names to the (national) team, but circumstances were not in unfavorable,” Nascimento told the JFA.

The team will participate in the 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualification in September next year.
