The recognition came through the ABCDryBASIN project, which is being implemented in Jordan in cooperation with Yarmouk University.

The international evaluation, which included independent case studies of the project in both Jordan and Egypt, found that the project achieved a “Strong” rating across several key performance areas, including relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability. The results reflect the quality of the research conducted and the effectiveness of its outcomes in addressing growing challenges related to water resource management and drought mitigation.

According to the evaluation report, the project successfully integrated scientific research with practical field applications, particularly in the areas of water-use efficiency and enhancing resilience to drought. This demonstrates a practical and forward-looking scientific approach that responds to the region’s environmental challenges and real-world needs.

The assessment also praised the efficiency of the project team, highlighting its ability to manage various activities and achieve planned objectives within designated timelines and with high completion rates. The report noted that this reflects an advanced level of professionalism in the management of international research projects.

Furthermore, the report indicated that the project contributed significantly to building distinguished academic partnerships and strengthening the research and institutional capacities of participating organizations. It also stood out for incorporating principles of inclusivity, gender equality, youth researcher empowerment, and sustainability.

These aspects were found to be more evident and advanced in the Jordanian case study compared to the other cases examined during the evaluation.

The achievement is the result of collaboration between Mutah University, Yarmouk University, and a number of national and international partners.

Dr. Sattam Al-Shaqour of Mutah University serves as the principal investigator and project director in Jordan, while Dr. Khaled Al-Hazaimeh of Yarmouk University is a key partner in implementing the project’s activities and achieving its scientific outcomes.
