According to the broadcaster, Israeli officials said that “American officials informed the Syrians that Israel does not support self-rule for the Druze in Syria.”

The report added that President Donald Trump’s administration is pressing Israel to speed up talks with Syria in order to reach an agreement as soon as possible.

Citing U.S. Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack, Syrian Television said he told Axios that “talks between Syria and Israel are moving positively” and that “there is a possibility of reaching a security agreement between Syria and Israel.”

Barrack noted that “Syria and Israel have a shared intent and desire… but more work is needed.” He added: “Syria and Israel are still far from signing an agreement at this point.”
