In remarks to the press, Erdoğan said, "Israel's actions in Syria pose a threat to peace. The last thing Israel wants is a climate of peace and calm — it thrives on blood and chaos."
He added, "The world is bigger than Israel. It must rise to its greatness and extinguish this fireball that seeks to ignite the world. The cycle of silence must end now."
The Turkish president emphasized that "Israel, which doesn't hesitate to throw the region into flames, is also deeply disturbed by Turkey’s growing power in the region. We will not allow our neighbor Syria to be dragged into a new climate of conflict."
He stressed the importance of collective efforts toward "building a new Syria founded on unity and territorial integrity."
Erdoğan reiterated that the Freedom Flotilla attack was an act of piracy, and that Turkey is closely monitoring any steps Israel may take or plan to take in relation to Ankara.
