Dozens of extremist Jewish settlers stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque – Al-Haram Al-Sharif in occupied Jerusalem on Thursday morning, entering through the Mughrabi Gate under heavy protection from Israeli occupation police.

According to a statement by the Islamic Waqf Department in Jerusalem, the settlers carried out provocative tours in the courtyards of the mosque and performed Talmudic rituals, particularly in its eastern section.
The Waqf Department also reported that Israeli police imposed strict restrictions on Palestinian worshippers entering Al-Aqsa, confiscating some of their IDs at the mosque’s gates.
Meanwhile, the so-called “Temple Mount groups” launched a petition addressed to Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, demanding provocative actions at Al-Aqsa during the upcoming “Jerusalem Day” on May 26.
These groups are calling on Ben-Gvir to allow full access to settlers from the evening of May 25 to the evening of May 26, including unrestricted Talmudic rituals and the entry of so-called “sacred items” such as the tallit, tefillin, and Torah scrolls.
Al-Aqsa Mosque has been subjected to near-daily incursions by settlers—except on Fridays and Saturdays—under the protection of Israeli police, as part of ongoing efforts to impose temporal and spatial division of the holy site.
Since October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have maintained a siege on Al-Aqsa, restricting Muslim worshippers' access through harsh measures, barriers, and detentions at the mosque’s entrances.
