Amman — Jordan is bracing for a potent state of atmospheric instability starting Wednesday. The Meteorological Department and local authorities have issued several warnings as a cold, wet air mass moves into the Kingdom.

Weather Forecast: Wednesday, March 25
The weather will be cold across most regions with increasing cloud cover. Rainfall is expected to begin in the southern regions, including Aqaba, before spreading to the rest of the Kingdom, including the capital, Amman.

• Intensity: Heavy rain is expected by the afternoon, accompanied by thunderstorms and hail.

• Flash Flood Risk: High risk of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, specifically in Aqaba and the Dead Sea.
• Visibility: Reduced visibility due to fog in mountainous areas and dust in desert regions prior to rainfall.

Intensification on Thursday
A significant drop in temperatures is expected on Thursday. The Kingdom will remain under the influence of the cold air mass, with rainy and cloudy conditions persisting.

• Snowfall: Brief light snow showers are possible over the high southern peaks (Sharah Mountains) during the early morning.
• Winds: Active westerly winds with gusts reaching up to 60 km/h.
National Emergency Response
Government entities have raised their readiness levels to ensure public safety:
• Ministry of Local Administration: Minister Walid Al-Masri directed the opening of operations rooms 24/7 in coordination with Civil Defense.
• Ministry of Public Works: Activated medium-level emergency status through Friday evening, deploying machinery and emergency teams nationwide.
• Greater Amman Municipality (GAM): Declared a maximum state of emergency starting Wednesday morning.
• Public Security Directorate (PSD): Urged citizens to stay away from valleys, avoid low-lying areas, and refrain from attempting to cross water pools either on foot or by vehicle.
