Microsoft is preparing to draw the curtain on its lightweight application, Outlook Lite. The company has confirmed that the app will permanently cease operations starting May 26, a move reflecting the tech giant's shift toward promoting its primary application.

Microsoft originally launched "Outlook Lite" in 2022, targeting Android smartphones with limited storage capacity and catering to users in regions with weak internet connectivity. According to a report by TechCrunch, the app provided a simplified experience designed for lower data consumption.
While the decision to terminate the app was not entirely unexpected—as the company had previously announced its intention to withdraw it from the Google Play Store by October 2025—the latest confirmation means the app will lose all functionality for current users in the coming weeks.
On the app's official support page, Microsoft explained its recommendation for users to transition to the Outlook Mobile app to continue benefiting from an email experience that is "more secure and feature-rich."
Outlook Lite users will still be able to access their current emails, calendars, and attachments by logging into the main application. Users will be automatically redirected to download the primary app via the Google Play Store.
