Reports claim that Google has laid off more than 100 employees in its design departments.

Earlier this week, the company cut staff from the Quantitative User Experience Research and Platform and Services Experience teams within its cloud computing division, as well as several adjacent teams, according to a report published by CNBC.اضافة اعلان

These roles typically focused on using data, surveys, and other tools to understand user behaviors and apply them to product development and design.

Google has reportedly reduced its design teams in the cloud division by half, with many U.S.-based teams affected by the decision. Some employees have been given until early December to find new positions within the company.

The latest layoffs come as Google accelerates cost-cutting efforts to redirect spending toward artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Since the start of the year, the tech giant has offered voluntary exit packages across several U.S. units and dismissed over a third of its managers overseeing small teams.

The company has also recently begun encouraging employees to incorporate AI more extensively into their daily work.

So far, Google has offered buyouts to U.S.-based employees across departments including human resources, hardware, search, advertising, marketing, finance, and commerce.

A report in August noted that Google CEO Sundar Pichai told employees the company would need to “increase efficiency as the business expands so we don’t have to solve all problems through headcount.”

Other major corporations have also announced job cuts recently. In July, Microsoft laid off 9,000 employees across various roles and regions.
