The moment a seller posts an item on Facebook Marketplace, messages often flood in within minutes asking: "Is this available?" or "Can you lower the price?" Responding to these repetitive inquiries can consume valuable time for those trying to balance work, life, and their decluttering efforts.

Meta, Facebook's parent company, believes it has found a solution. According to a report by Digital Trends, Meta is introducing AI-powered tools to Facebook Marketplace designed to handle buyer messages automatically.
Automated Responses Based on Listings
Sellers can now enable automated replies that extract information directly from their product listings—including price, description, and pickup location—to answer FAQs instantly. When a buyer inquires about an item, the AI scans the post and drafts a response using the pre-entered details. It confirms availability, restates the price, and provides the pickup location if specified.
Sellers can activate this feature while creating their listings and preview the system’s responses before they go live. Replies can also be edited to adjust the tone or add specific instructions.
Focusing on Serious Buyers
By handling repetitive queries, the system allows sellers to focus on genuinely interested buyers. Instead of typing the same answers throughout the day, the AI takes over the "first round" of communication.
A Comprehensive Automated Sales Assistant
This messaging tool is part of a broader AI initiative within Facebook Marketplace. Meta is transforming the platform into an automated sales assistant that manages routine tasks from listing to closing the deal:
Auto-Listing: By simply uploading photos, the system creates a draft including the title, description, and suggested price based on similar items in the area.
Shipping Assistance: AI facilitates shipping by generating prepaid labels and tracking orders within a single dashboard.
Seller Profiles: Meta will soon add AI-generated summaries to seller profiles, highlighting their sales history and ratings to build trust with buyers.
