According to Korinkov, cataracts are primarily age-related and usually develop after the age of 60. However, the number of cases detected in individuals in their fifties has been rising. Chronic conditions such as diabetes, harmful environmental factors, unhealthy lifestyle habits, and prolonged use of certain medications can all accelerate the progression of the disease.
He noted that cataracts cannot be completely prevented, as the aging process is natural. However, a healthy lifestyle, a balanced diet, and avoiding risk factors may help delay their onset. Since the condition can remain asymptomatic for a long period, regular eye examinations are essential for early detection and preventing complications.
