Natural scenery across Ayla showcases the outcomes of this strategy. The water lagoons—one of the project’s central components—attract migratory birds passing through Aqaba during migration seasons, offering varied environments for rest and feeding. Among the recently observed sightings is the Common Tern hunting for fish across Ayla’s water bodies.

This system serves as a practical example of utilizing nature-based solutions to deliver multiple benefits, ranging from sustainable water management and supporting green spaces to providing natural habitats for wildlife and boosting biodiversity within an integrated tourism and urban setting.

Ayla Oasis Development Company places special emphasis on environmental preservation as a core part of its development vision. Sustainability practices are embedded throughout its facilities, including its world-class golf course, which was developed in line with environmentally conscious practices that encourage the responsible use of natural resources.

In this context, Mansour Kabariti, Public Relations Manager at Ayla Oasis Development Company, stated: "The natural scenes we witness today at Ayla embody our approach to balancing development with environmental protection. They demonstrate that nature-based solutions can generate integrated benefits for people, the environment, and the community, while strengthening the capacity of tourist destinations to preserve their natural resources. At Ayla, we continue to advance these efforts through close cooperation with relevant entities, foremost among them the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN), to bolster synergy between sustainable development and biodiversity protection."

For his part, Eng. Firas Rahahleh, Director of the Aqaba Bird Observatory—one of the RSCN's most prominent nature-based solution projects—explained that Aqaba possesses unique assets qualifying it to be a regional benchmark in this field, thanks to its ecological diversity, strategic location, and development projects that integrate sustainability across all planning and development phases.

Rahahleh added: "The partnership with Ayla represents an exemplary model of integrating development with environmental considerations. The Ayla project incorporates ecological components within its design and development, maximizing positive impacts on humans, the environment, and biodiversity. This experience provides a model for nature-based solutions that can be built upon and utilized regionally and internationally as a practice uniting development requirements with sustainability principles."

Ayla affirms that environmental protection is not a separate element from development, but an inherent part of the sustainable development framework. The natural landscapes embraced by Ayla today offer a living example of how tourism and urban development can harmoniously coexist with nature, delivering sustainable value for people, the environment, and society.
