Dubai, United Arab Emirates,
September 7,
2026:Kia Corporation (Kia) has received a Bronze award at the 2026
International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) for the Kia PV5 Infotainment
System, while Kia's global campaign with The Ocean Cleanup has been named a Finalist.
The recognitions were received in IDEA’s Digital
Interaction and Social Impact Design categories, highlighting Kia's commitment to user-centered
mobility innovation and positive environmental impact.
Why Did the Kia PV5 Infotainment System Win Bronze?
Developed for Kia's first dedicated electric Platform
Beyond Vehicle (PBV), the PV5 Infotainment System was recognized for its
user-centered design and software-driven mobility experience. Key features
include:
Software-Defined Mobility Experience: The platform was designed for Kia's PBV ecosystem and enables flexible business, service and lifestyle applications through a scalable software platform.
Optimized 16:9 Wide Display Interface: Kia's first infotainment user interface designed for dedicated PBVs features a 16:9 widescreen layout with multi-view capability, allowing users to access media, camera and HVAC functions simultaneously.
Integrated Design Language: Shared visual elements, including typography, icons, widgets and media experiences, help deliver a consistent user experience across physical and digital touchpoints.
Why
Was Kia’s Campaign with The Ocean Cleanup Recognized as an IDEA Finalist?
Kia’s global campaign, ‘Kia x The Ocean Cleanup: Creating a
Wave of Movement, Together’,
was developed as a seven-part video series that reflects Kia and The Ocean Cleanup’s shared
vision of a plastic-free ocean.
The
campaign builds on Kia’s ongoing support for The Ocean Cleanup’s work, which has removed more than 42 million kilograms of marine
waste to date. Key initiatives include:
Purposeful
Storytelling: Environmental data is translated into engaging
content designed to raise awareness of ocean plastic
pollution and inspire collective action.
Shared Sustainability Vision: The campaign connects The Ocean Cleanup’s
marineplastic removal work with
Kia’s ‘Movement’ philosophy, reinforcing both organizations’ shared commitment to a cleaner and more
sustainable future.
Design for Social Impact: A
consistent visual language centered on movement
unifies the series and
demonstrates the role design
can play in communicating sustainability initiatives.
