Awamleh said that government exemptions provided to the housing sector contributed to an increase in the volume of real-estate trading during the past year.

He said that the volume of real estate trading during January was 20 percent less compared to the same period in 2021, attributing this to the blizzard and frost wave.

He pointed out that the sector's indicators during 2021 were good, as the sector recorded big sales of apartments and land compared to 2020, all due to the government exemptions.

He said that the three-month period of exemptions approved by the government until the end of March is not enough to start any new project in light of the delay in completing the necessary licensing transactions for any project.

The Jordan Investors Association had earlier requested from the prime minister to extend the government-approved exemptions.
