Investor confidence index increases in Q1 of this year

AMMAN — The Jordanian Investor Confidence Index, published monthly by the Jordan Strategy Forum (JSF), has risen to 189.3 points in the first quarter of 2022, up from 168.1 points in the fourth quarter of last year, according to Al-Mamlaka TV.اضافة اعلان

In total, the confidence index in economic activity rose from 165.0 points in the fourth quarter of 2021 to 200 points in the first quarter of 2022.

Meanwhile, the GDP growth rate declined from 2.6 percent in the fourth quarter of 2021 to 2.5 percent in the first quarter of 2022, according to the JSF.

The budget deficit decreased from JD771.7 million in the fourth quarter of 2021 to JD345.8 million in the first quarter of 2022.

The value of foreign direct investment inflows amounted to JD262.8 million in the first quarter of 2022, up from JD114 million in the fourth quarter of 2021, according to the JSF.

The Industrial Quantities Production index increased from 89.7 points in the fourth quarter of 2021 to 90.3 points in the first quarter of 2022, the JSF said.

But the confidence index in the monetary system fell from 200 points in the fourth quarter of 2021 to 174.9 points in the first quarter of 2022, while the value of the foreign currency reserves at the Central Bank in the first quarter of 2022 remained the same as in the previous quarter, at JD14.7 billion.



The JSF said the interest rate differential between the dinar and the dollar increased from 2.42 percent in the fourth quarter of 2021 to 2.55 percent in the first quarter of 2022.

Likewise, the value of cashed checks increased from JD306.3 million in the fourth quarter of 2021 to JD331.7 million in the first quarter of 2022, equivalent to an 8.3 percent increase.

The financial confidence index rose from 142.4 points in the fourth quarter of 2021 to 182.2 points in the first quarter of 2022. Also the stock market index rose by 285.8 points to reach 4,291.1 points in the first quarter of 2022.

The ratio of shares bought in the Amman Stock Exchange by foreign investors to shares sold also increased to reach 70 percent in the first quarter of 2022, compared to 46.3 percent in the fourth quarter of 2021.

Also, the value of credit granted to the private sector increased to JD28.9 billion in the first quarter of 2022; an increase of 2.6 percent compared to the previous quarter.
