Jordan’s national exports to the countries of the Arab Free Trade Area increased by 16.9% in the first half of this year, reaching JD 1.851 billion, compared to JD 1.583 billion during the same period last year, making the Arab Free Trade Area Jordan’s top trading partner.

Exports to these countries accounted for 42.3% of Jordan’s total exports in the first half of the year.
According to the foreign trade report issued by the Department of Statistics and monitored by the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Jordan’s imports from the Arab Free Trade Area during the same period reached JD 2.598 billion, up 10.5% from JD 2.352 billion during the first half of last year.
Statistical data showed that Jordan’s trade deficit with the Arab Free Trade Area fell to JD 747 million, compared to JD 769 million in the same period last year.
Saudi Arabia held the largest share of Jordan’s exports to the Arab Free Trade Area in the first half of the year, totaling JD 612 million, followed by Iraq with JD 431 million. Saudi Arabia also topped the list of countries from which Jordan imports, with JD 1.4 billion in imports.
The Greater Arab Free Trade Area is an economic alliance among Arab countries aimed at economic integration and low-tariff trade. It entered into effect in January 2005 and currently includes 18 member countries.
