The number of certificates issued in August 2025 was 1,447, compared to 1,454 for the same period last year.

The decline in export volume, according to the certificates of origin, is attributed to noticeable decreases in the leather and textiles sector and the therapeutic and medical supplies sector, which fell by 0.6% and 25.2%, respectively, along with a decline in engineering industry exports.

Countries with trade agreements account for most industrial exports, particularly the United States, which receives over half of Irbid Governorate’s exports (from Al Hassan Industrial Estate and Cyber City). The European agreement accounts for around 8.9% of the governorate’s exports, and the Arab League agreement approximately 6.8% of total exports.

Al Hassan Industrial Estate contributed the majority of exports, representing nearly 95% of total exports according to certificates of origin issued by the Irbid Chamber of Industry, followed by Cyber City at over 4% of total exports.

The leather and textiles sector led exports with $101 million, representing 89.7% of total exports. It was followed by the food, agricultural, and livestock industries at $4.483 million (4%), the therapeutic and medical supplies sector at $3.207 million, the chemical and cosmetics industries at $2.846 million, followed by engineering, electrical, plastics and rubber, IT, packaging, paper, cardboard and office supplies, mining, construction, and wood and furniture industries.

Hani Abu Hassan, President of the Irbid Chamber of Industry, said the decline in the total value of certificates of origin in August 2025 was driven by reduced exports in two main sectors: the leather and textiles sector (down 0.6%) and the therapeutic and medical supplies sector (down 25.2%).

He added that exports under the Arab League agreement fell by 6.8% month-on-month to reach approximately $7.7 million in August 2025, compared to $8.3 million in August 2024. Exports under the U.S. agreement also decreased by 5.4% month-on-month.

Abu Hassan noted that exports of the Irbid Chamber of Industry under trade agreements accounted for 83.2% of total exports.
