Jordan’s national strategy for the food industries sector for 2027–2029 shows that the sector comprises around 2,600 industrial establishments with registered capital estimated at JD674 million. It provides approximately 66,500 direct jobs, in addition to indirect employment across the agriculture and logistics sectors.اضافة اعلان

According to the strategy prepared by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, with support from the Economic Reform Program and in partnership with the Jordan Chamber of Industry and several public and private entities, the sector meets more than 62% of local market needs and directs around 70% of its sales to the domestic market.

The sector’s annual production stands at JD4.5 billion, with value added reaching JD1.8 billion, equivalent to 40% of total production.

On the export front, the sector recorded cumulative growth of 102% over the past five years, with exports reaching JD823 million in 2024. Exports totaled JD443 million during the first half of 2025, while Jordanian food products reached more than 109 countries.

The strategy noted that exports remain geographically concentrated in nearby regional markets. Saudi Arabia and Iraq accounted for around 58% of total exports to the top 10 destinations during 2022–2025, with cumulative export values of JD607 million to Saudi Arabia and JD482 million to Iraq.

The United States recorded the highest growth rate among the top 10 export markets, rising by 498% in 2025. Although cumulative exports to the US stood at JD98 million, the figure points to opportunities for further growth in non-regional markets.

The strategy identified the sector’s biggest challenge as the fact that part of its expansion is still driven by increased production volumes rather than deeper value addition. It also highlighted the need to diversify export markets and strengthen the sector’s presence in key destinations.
