Economic experts said the rise in Jordanian consumer confidence in the national economy during the third quarter of this year reflects the positive performance of local economic indicators since the beginning of the year, particularly improved economic growth, amid continued economic reform efforts and stronger monetary and fiscal stability despite the geopolitical challenges facing the region.

They said improved confidence indicators support economic activity by strengthening consumer spending trends, encouraging investment decisions and reinforcing positive expectations for the coming period, thereby supporting economic growth and enhancing the national economy’s attractiveness to investors.

They added that continued implementation of economic reform programs and projects stemming from the Economic Modernization Vision, alongside further improvements in indicators affecting citizens’ living conditions, would strengthen confidence in the national economy and reinforce its positive impact at various levels.

Jordan Consumer Confidence Index — Q3 2026

Ipsos research firm reported that its Jordanian Consumer Confidence Index rose 1.9% year-on-year in the third quarter of this year, reaching 42.6%.

According to the Ipsos report, 64% of respondents clearly believe that things in Jordan are moving in the right direction, placing Jordan fourth globally on this indicator and ahead of many economies. The result suggests that the current economic situation is viewed as more positive and dynamic than before. Regarding current economic conditions, 58% described them as positive and encouraging, while 42% considered them negative.

The Ipsos Consumer Confidence Index is a quarterly national survey that tracks consumers’ financial and economic assessments and their investment intentions.

Meanwhile, the report showed that unemployment ranked as the leading challenge, cited by 56% of respondents, followed by inflation at 54%, poverty and social inequality at 36%, education at 27%, and healthcare at 20%.

The results also showed that the Consumer Confidence Index for the outlook of the local economy rose during the third quarter to 58.5%, an increase of 2.7% compared with the same period last year.

The overall job security sub-index rose 1.1% year-on-year to 50.3%, while consumer confidence in personal financial capabilities increased 1.4% year-on-year to 30.2%.

By contrast, the Consumer Confidence Index for the investment climate declined 1.6% year-on-year to 32.5%, although expectations for a future recovery remained positive.

Looking ahead to the local economic situation six months from now, half of Jordanians surveyed (50%) expressed strong optimism that economic conditions would be stronger and more prosperous than they are currently. Meanwhile, 37% expected conditions to weaken, while 13% anticipated no change.

Regarding consumers’ current financial capabilities, 53% of respondents considered them weak, while 26% said they were stronger and 21% said they remained unchanged. Looking ahead to their personal financial situation over the next six months, 54% expressed strong confidence that their financial position would improve and become stronger, compared with 30% who expected it to weaken and 16% who expected it to remain unchanged.

Regarding job security compared with six months earlier, 38% said they were more confident, while 62% said they were less confident. In terms of their ability to invest in the future, 34% said they were more confident, compared with 66% who were less confident.

Rising Consumer Confidence Reflects Improved Economic Performance

Economic expert Munir Deyeh said the rise in consumer confidence in the national economy reflects the impact of positive economic indicators achieved by Jordan in recent months, particularly economic growth approaching 3%, foreign reserves reaching around $29 billion, a 10% increase in national exports, a 14% rise in workers’ remittances from abroad, and improved performance on the Amman Stock Exchange, which has reached record levels.

Deyeh added that the succession of these positive indicators, together with favorable assessments from credit-rating institutions and international agencies, has helped strengthen consumer and investor confidence and given citizens a more optimistic outlook for the economic future despite the political and economic challenges facing the region.

He said continued positive performance at both the domestic and international levels would further strengthen consumer and investor confidence, with positive effects on economic performance and overall satisfaction. He stressed the importance of maintaining this momentum by continuing to implement economic reform programs and projects stemming from the Economic Modernization Vision.

Deyeh also stressed that positive economic indicators must be accompanied by tangible improvements in citizens’ living conditions, particularly unemployment, poverty, inflation and living costs, to ensure that economic gains translate into jobs, higher incomes and greater purchasing power.

He highlighted the importance of moving ahead with major economic projects that can improve living conditions and strengthen the connection between macroeconomic indicators and people’s everyday realities, supporting sustainable confidence in the national economy.

Deyeh said higher confidence could help attract more foreign investment and encourage local investors to expand their businesses, supported by confidence in economic and monetary policies as well as monetary and banking stability. He added that this would enhance the national economy’s appeal to international institutions and donor countries and create opportunities to expand cooperation and secure financing for development projects.

Confidence as a Driver of Economic and Investment Activity

Economic expert Mofleh Akl said the government’s continued and intensified economic reform efforts over the past year had contributed to improved national economic indicators despite the surrounding geopolitical crises, thereby strengthening citizens’ confidence in the local economy and its potential.

Akl explained that confidence is an important factor in stimulating economic activity, as its effects extend across different aspects of the economy by supporting domestic demand and growth, encouraging citizens to spend and plan for the future, and reducing concerns related to economic conditions.

He noted that improved confidence in the national economy is particularly important in encouraging investment decisions. Investors pay close attention to consumer confidence, he said, as stronger confidence helps make the investment environment more attractive and directs investment toward it.

Akl said the national economy has recorded positive results since the beginning of the year across several indicators, including GDP growth and increases in exports, foreign reserves and foreign investment. He considered these developments supportive of expectations for continued positive economic performance and stronger confidence in the coming period despite regional tensions.

Improved Perception of the National Economy

Economic expert Musa Al-Saket said the rise in consumer confidence reflects an improvement in perceptions of the national economy and strengthens optimism about its ability to overcome challenges.

At the same time, he called for a balanced reading of the results, noting that higher confidence in the economic outlook does not necessarily mean a tangible improvement in citizens’ living standards, particularly given continued pressures from unemployment, rising living costs and weak purchasing power.

Al-Saket said the improvement could be attributed to a combination of the Jordanian economy’s ability to adapt to regional challenges, continued activity across several economic sectors, and growing optimism about the coming period.

He added that monetary and fiscal stability, along with continued government efforts to promote investment, could help support confidence. However, persistent concerns over unemployment and inflation highlight the need to translate optimism into tangible results that citizens can feel through their incomes, employment opportunities and purchasing power.

Al-Saket said improved confidence could help boost domestic consumption and encourage investment, positively affecting markets, production and economic growth. However, turning this optimism into tangible results requires greater productive investment, job creation, stronger support for the private sector and national industry, and sustainable economic growth whose benefits reach citizens.
