The Department of Statistics issued its monthly report for the current year on the general index of agricultural producer prices, recording a 6.9% increase in agricultural producer prices during the first ten months of the year compared to the same period last year.

The report noted that in October alone, prices rose by 14.6% compared to October 2024, while decreasing by 0.99% compared to the previous month of September 2025.
The cumulative index of agricultural producer prices for the first ten months of this year reached 115.7, compared with 108.2 for the same period in 2024. The index for October 2025 stood at 116.8, up from 101.9 in October 2024, but slightly down from 117.9 in September 2025.
Comparing the first ten months of 2025 with the same period in 2024, prices increased for several crops, notably hot peppers, green bell peppers, and bananas, which had a relative importance of 63.5%. Meanwhile, prices declined for other crops such as potatoes, colored bell peppers, and eggplants, with a relative importance of 36.5%.
The rise in the agricultural producer price index for October 2025 compared to the same month in 2024 was mainly due to increases in prices for lemons, dates, and tomatoes, which accounted for 63.6% of the weight of rising crops. Conversely, prices fell for crops such as potatoes, green corn, and zucchini, representing 36.4% of the weighted decrease.
Comparing October 2025 to September 2025, prices declined for crops that represented 62.9% of relative importance, including cauliflower, white cabbage, and green beans. Prices rose for crops representing 37.1% of relative importance, including tomatoes, molokhia leaves, and colored bell peppers.
