UK Maritime Authority: Ship Reports Explosion Nearby off Yemen

A British maritime authority reported Tuesday an “explosion” near a vessel in the Gulf of Aden off the coast of Yemen, where Houthi rebels have been targeting commercial shipping since the outbreak of the Gaza war.اضافة اعلان

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said it had “received a report of an incident 120 nautical miles (about 222 kilometers) east of Aden,” adding that “the master reported hearing an explosion and water splashing near the vessel.”

No party has yet claimed responsibility for the incident, which the maritime authority described as an “attack.”

According to UKMTO, the ship sustained no damage and its crew remained unharmed as they continued en route to their next port. “Authorities are investigating the incident,” the authority added.
