Duwairi was speaking during the recent announcement of the launch of the second phase of the “Together, We Arrive Safely” campaign, implemented by the Traffic Department in cooperation with the Media Directorate and local police, with the aim of raising public awareness on road safety, Al-Ghad daily reported.

The director noted that 80,000 additional vehicles enter the Kingdom every year, and most of them are used on the same few roads across the capital.

Duwairi said in November of last year that 160,000 cars from outside Amman enter and leave the capital during the morning and evening rush hours via nine different roads every day.

The Traffic Department deals with 6 million traffic movements in the capital on a daily basis, he said.
