According to the study, Petra received 1.2 million visitors, with 111,652 Jordanians and 1.04 million foreigners.

In 2022 alone, the total number of visitors was 904,654, with 185,956 Jordanians and 718,698 foreigners.

However, by the end of 2023, Jordan's Minister of Tourism, Makram Al-Qaisi, had reported a 50 percent drop in hotel bookings since the start of Israel's war on Gaza on October 7, 2023.

Fares Braizat, the head of the Petra Development and Tourism Authority (PDTRA), stated in December 2023 that tourism in Petra had decreased from 6,000 to 500 tourists per day as a result of Israel's war in Gaza.

The Financial Committee of the House of Representatives also indicated that the war had an impact on Jordan's tourism sector, with a 90 percent drop in performance outcomes for the fourth quarter of 2023.
