AMMAN — The Public Security Directorate
(PSD) spokesperson warned citizens against responding to SMSs that originate
from a 911 number, asking them to transfer money, according to Khaberni.
The spokesman stressed that citizens should not respond
to such messages under any circumstances, as they are fraudulent, adding that
they should be deleted from users’ phones to avoid falling prey to electronic
fraud.
He said that the PSD Cybercrime Unit has initiated an investigation to
trace the source of these messages and take the necessary legal action.
