National Water Carrier Project making major headway — minister

AMMAN — Minister of Water and Irrigation Mohammad Najjar said on Wednesday that the National Water Carrier Project is “making major headway” in terms of technicalities and tender development, and that the bid for it is expected to be forwarded to prequalified consortiums by mid-March, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.اضافة اعلان

The minister’s remarks came a day after a meeting with potential international financiers at the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation. He said that prospective bidders will submit their bids in August as a final step before financial closure.

According to Najjar, Tuesday’s meeting was “productive and constructive”, and the participants “expressed willingness to provide all forms of support in different ways” to enable Jordan to implement this national project that will supply 300 million cubic meters of water annually to all governorates of the Kingdom.

The minister said that the Islamic Investment Bank, the European Investment Bank, Germany’s KfW Development Bank, the US International Development Finance Corporation, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the French Development Agency, the International Finance Corporation, the German Bank for International Cooperation, and other institutions participated in the meeting.
