AMMAN —  The National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) said Friday evening that electricity had been restored to 100 percent of the Kingdom.

Minister of state for media affairs and government spokesperson, Sakher Dudin, told media shortly after the blackout on Friday that the nation-wide power outage was due to Egyptian maintenance work on an underwater power cable that connects the power grids of Egypt and Jordan.

The concerned authorities in Egypt worked to fix the problem as soon as possible, Dudin said.

The Ministry of Water also said that the water distribution programs across the Kingdom are likely to be affected by the outage on Friday.

The nation-wide blackout affected almost all of Jordan.

According to NEPCO's website, Jordan is interconnected with Egypt's power grid via an underwater cable in the south, across the Gulf of Aqaba.اضافة اعلان
