Aloush emphasized that efforts are underway to ensure a diverse array of mobile devices catering to various consumer budgets, Al-Ghad reported.

These import statistics are derived from official data from the Jordanian General Customs Department.

Aloush highlighted the prevalence of credit card installment systems for purchasing mobile devices, with total transactions amounting to JD15 million in 2023. However, purchases made via bank cards witnessed a decline last year after a surge from JD16 million in 2021 to JD23 million in 2022.

Attributing the decline in sales to taxes imposed on mobile phone purchases, Aloush expressed concerns about Jordan's competitiveness compared to neighboring countries.

In response, the association is launching a comprehensive study to evaluate the impact of taxes on mobile devices and their effects on Jordan's market attractiveness. This initiative aims to address the preferences of visitors who previously favored purchasing devices in Jordan due to favorable pricing.

The study will spotlight challenges and opportunities within Jordan's mobile device market, advocating for a conducive business environment that fosters growth and aligns with global technological advancements.
