Minister of Education Azmi Mahafzah said that 701 schools in Jordan do not have school attendants (“janitors”).

In response to parliamentary questions submitted by MP Suleiman Al-Kharabsheh, Mahafzah explained that the daily-wage system is applied according to schools’ needs. Individuals are hired to carry out cleaning duties inside schools on a daily wage basis and on an irregular schedule, for several days that in total do not reach a full month.اضافة اعلان

He added that there is no requirement to employ the same person for more than one day for such tasks, as the matter depends on the availability of financial allocations.

Regarding the construction of new schools, he noted that all newly established and previously established schools under the Ministry of Education are allocated the full educational staff, either through permanent appointments or through additional teaching assignments, in line with the state budget approved for the ministry’s hiring.
