Madaba witnesses 235% surge in tourist visits in Q1 2023

AMMAN — Madaba witnessed an impressive increase in tourism during the first quarter of 2023, according to the city's Tourism Director, Wael Jaenini. اضافة اعلان

According to the Jordan News Agency, Petra, Jaenini shared that the city saw an active movement of tourists, marking a significant increase of 235 percent compared to the same period last year.

171,665 tourists visit MadabaDuring the first quarter of 2023, Madaba saw a total of 171,665 visitors, with 10,081 Jordanians and a significant number of foreign visitors from the US at 28,743, followed by Italy with 20,255, France with 13,268, and Spain with 9,566 visitors, according to Jaenini.

Jaenini also noted that the number of tourist establishments in Madaba has increased to 117, with seven new businesses compared to last year.

Out of the 117 establishments, 22 are hotels, 30 are restaurants, 60 are handicrafts shops, and five are travel, hajj, and umra offices.

Madaba's rich tourist attractionsMadaba is well-known for its rich history and archaeological sites, including Mount Nebo, one of the most important Christian pilgrimage sites.

Jaenini added that the city's tourism directorate is working on completing several tourist projects this year.

Madaba has won several international and Arab titles, including the 2016 World Crafts City title for mosaic and the Arab Tourism Capital for 2022.
