Lower House agrees to suspend sentence of MP Hassan Al-Riyati

AMMAN — Jordan’s Lower House has decided to suspend the sentence of Representative Hassan Al-Riyati before the end of the second regular session, which constitutionally ends on May 13.اضافة اعلان

The House of Representatives had decided on January 17, 2022 to suspend Riyati’s membership for a period of two years, in line with a decision by the Legal Committee regarding a quarrel that broke out between a group of MPs under the dome in December 2021.

In this most recent update, the Lower House has voted by majority on a memorandum submitted by a group of deputies that included suspending Riyati’s sentence. This means that he will not complete the penalty imposed on him, as it has been about a year and three months since his membership was suspended.
