His Majesty King Abdullah II met on Tuesday with Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi in New York, in the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.
During the meeting, held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings, the King affirmed the strong fraternal ties between Jordan and Iraq and the two countries’ commitment to deepening cooperation across various fields, particularly energy, the economy, and investment, in ways that serve the interests of both peoples and contribute to regional stability.
The meeting also addressed developments in the region. King Abdullah stressed the need to reach an agreement that would end the escalation and safeguard the security and sovereignty of Arab states. He also warned of the dangers of Israel exploiting regional developments to impose a new reality in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Director of the Royal Office Alaa Al-Batayneh attended the meeting.
