The first trip on the new Irbid–Sweileh–Medical City route was launched on Sunday, aiming to serve commuters and visitors traveling to several major medical and vital service centers while helping reduce traffic congestion around Medical City in Amman.

According to Mohammad Al-Alawneh, Director of the Land Transport Regulatory Commission in Irbid, the first phase of the project includes the operation of five medium-sized buses, each with a capacity of 23 passengers.
Operating Hours and Schedule
Al-Alawneh said that during the current week, buses on the Irbid–Sweileh–Medical City route will operate from 6:15 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
The first bus departing from Medical City to Irbid leaves at 8:45 a.m.
A fixed schedule has been established, similar to the Irbid–Amman route, with approximately one hour between consecutive trips.
He noted that buses may depart earlier than scheduled if all seats are occupied, but departures will not be delayed beyond their designated times, including the first trip at 6:15 a.m.
Fare
The fare for the route from New Amman Bus Terminal in Irbid – Sweileh – Medical City has been set at JD 1.65.
Al-Alawneh explained that the fare is not divided into segments, as the fare from the New Amman Bus Terminal to Sweileh is already JD 1.65, which is the same fare applied to Medical City.
Fleet and Service Expansion
The buses serving the new route are the same vehicles currently operating on the Irbid–Salt and Irbid–Madaba routes. In cooperation with the 40 medium-sized buses operating on the Irbid–Amman line, the new service was launched starting Sunday.
He added that public feedback has been positive so far and that demand is expected to increase. If additional capacity is required, more public transport vehicles from the Irbid–Amman route will be assigned to support the Medical City line.
Route Stops and Operating Days
Irbid departure point: New Amman Bus Terminal (Mujamma' Amman Al-Jadeed)
Medical City stop: Services Gate on the northern side of Medical City
The route will operate six days a week, from Saturday through Thursday, while separate arrangements will be made for Fridays.
Al-Alawneh emphasized that the project is receiving significant support from the Ministry of Transport and all relevant authorities to ensure its success and provide high-quality transportation services to citizens.
