Hijawi, member of the National Committee for Epidemics, said that the country’s
COVID-19 figures have long been stable, noting that this has allowed the
government to proceed with its plan to open up sectors, according to Al-Ghad
News.

During his interview with
Roya TV, he added that gatherings should be defined by health protocols,
stressing that it is unacceptable and inappropriate to have gatherings like the
ones seen at the
Jerash festival.
For his part, thoracic
specialist Mohammed Tarawneh said that it is very unfortunate to see such
gatherings, noting that there are no guarantees that there would be no new wave
of COVID-19.
Tarawneh stressed that such gatherings
have led to setbacks in the fight against the virus in a number of countries
around the world, and that the Jerash festival should have been more disciplined.
