AMMAN — Minister of Education and Higher Education and Scientific Research Azmi Mahafzah said on Sunday that a plan to merge the two ministries will likely be submitted to the Cabinet’s Public Sector Modernization Committee sometime during the next two weeks, prior to its submission to the Prime Ministry.اضافة اعلان

During a meeting with the Parliamentary Education and Youth Committee, Mahafzah said that the plan will be submitted after it is completed by the committee responsible for drafting it.

“In my personal opinion, there is no need for a Ministry of Higher Education,” he said.

Mahafzah explained that the Higher Education Ministry “does not interfere in the internal workings of the Kingdom’s universities”.

However, the minister stressed the importance of keeping the Ministry of Education, which is a “huge ministry” with over 120,000 employees overseeing more than 7,000 schools.
