The Chinese Embassy in Jordan held a reception on Tuesday evening to mark the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. The event was attended by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nancy Namrouqa, along with officials, diplomats, journalists and invited guests, according to a statement from Petra, the Jordan News Agency.

Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Guo Wei said King Abdullah II's visit to China last month - made at the invitation of President Xi Jinping - represented an important new milestone in the strategic partnership between the two countries and charted new horizons for developing Jordanian-Chinese relations in the new era.
Guo Wei noted that the visit was King Abdullah's first state visit to China in 11 years and his ninth since ascending to the throne. The king and President Xi held talks in Beijing and reached significant agreements on deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries, he said.
The two sides signed 25 cooperation documents during the visit, covering trade, investment, energy, minerals, tourism and education, as well as emerging sectors including the green economy, the digital economy, artificial intelligence and advanced manufacturing. The ambassador described these as new areas of cooperation between the two countries.
Guo Wei said Jordan upholds the One China principle and supports China's pursuit of national reunification, while China affirms its firm support for Jordan's efforts to achieve peace, stability and development in the region, and backs the Hashemite custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
On the Palestinian issue, the ambassador said President Xi had presented four principles during his talks with King Abdullah: commitment to a political solution; commitment to the two-state solution as the correct path; the principle that Palestine should be governed by Palestinians; and adherence to humanity, justice and equity.
Guo Wei said China is ready to work with Jordan to advance a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Palestinian question at the earliest opportunity. Both sides, he added, share a common concern about the broader security situation in the region, call for respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of regional states, advocate resolving disputes through dialogue and negotiation, and support maintaining and consolidating the ceasefire.
The ambassador also referenced a four-point initiative that President Xi had recently proposed during a visit to Egypt, focused on activating the internal dynamics of common security in the region, advancing integrated governance of common security, consolidating the development foundations of common security, and strengthening international coordination on regional common security.
On the Chinese economy, Guo Wei said it had demonstrated considerable resilience and vitality despite a complex and volatile international environment. China's economy grew 4.7 percent in the first half of the current year, he said, while total imports and exports rose 17.3 percent year-on-year in the first seven months of the year, with imports climbing 22 percent - outpacing export growth for the fifth consecutive month.
Looking ahead, the ambassador noted that China and Jordan will next year mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. He also observed that the current year coincides with the start of China's 15th Five-Year Plan and the second phase of Jordan's Economic Modernisation Vision, expressing China's readiness to work alongside Jordan to advance relations across political, economic, people-to-people and international dimensions.
