CARE Jordan conducts gender-based violence capacity training

AMMAN — CARE Jordan conducted a capacity-building training program over the last week to enhance gender based violence (GBV) case management services for Jordanian governmental stakeholders that constitute a critical and life-saving primary entry point, for GBV survivors, to receive immediate and longer-term support. اضافة اعلان

CARE Jordan said in a press release that about 100 trainees participated in the Norwegian Development Agency supported training program, 60 representatives from Ministry of Social Development, 20 staff from the Ministry of Education, and 16 staff from other key partners from NGO’s, and four staff from CARE’s case managers, from Amman, Irbid, Karak and Tafileh governorates.

“The training program fully focused on GBV and gender equality issues in the Kingdom,” the statement said. It said CARE Jordan Country Director Ammar Abu Zayyad noted that “the main purpose of this program was to enhance protection and empowerment through the utilization of the case management system for better gender-responsive, survivor-centered, child and victim-friendly handling of cases”.

“This includes knowledge of applicable laws and guidelines, case management and documentation, referral, and support for survivors to accesses other essential services and hands-on techniques and skills for effective investigation, prosecution, and adjudication,” he said.

Furthermore, participants are now  capable of using the interagency GBR case management guidelines and training materials in providing care and case management training to service providers in humanitarian settings to set standards for quality, compassionate care for GBV survivors in humanitarian settings, with a particular focus on the provision of case management services, and GBVIMS+ platform and other GBV response resources, such as the Caring for Survivors of Sexual Abuse and Violence.

CARE Jordan Cash and Basic Needs Program Manager Zeina Abu Jbara further emphasized that “the training program uses CARE models and expertise in engaging men and boys  around the world, to ensure participants have the capacity to identify and respond to GBV, and mainstream services for men survivors in their protection and GBV programming, as part of the comprehensive and inclusive case management mechanisms.”

CARE Jordan is investing in a suite of digital solutions to enable more collaboration between different organizations, with a focus on case management enhanced modalities, the statement said.

The organization is committed to ensuring local and civil society organizations play a leading role through equitable partnerships. Its localization campaign focuses on bringing autonomy and agency to local communities. CARE Jordan maintains a philosophy of shoulder-to-shoulder partnerships as the most effective means to address the needs of individuals and households affected by conflict, economic disparity, discrimination, and fragile resource environments.
