AMMAN  —  Professional association elections are allowed to take place as long as they conform to COVID-19 health protocols, Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Musa Al- Maaytah said, according to JO24.اضافة اعلان

Maaytah said that associations wishing to hold elections are required to coordinate with the Ministry of Health and other health authorities. He said the government has given the green light to the elections of the Jordan Press Association and the Jordanian Geologists Association, and will not object to other elections, provided that they take place under prevalent health protocols.

The minister’s statements follow requests by the Professional Associations Council earlier this month that association elections be exempt from the health measures implemented under Defense Order 35.

Implementing the COVID-19 protocols pertaining to PCR tests and vaccination certificates during the meetings and elections of the associations would represent a “transgression” on the associations’ bylaws, according to the council, Al-Rai daily reported.
