Applied Science Private University Celebrates Jordan's 79th Independence Day and Inaugurates 2025 Cultural Communities Fair

In a vibrant atmosphere filled with national pride and celebration, the Applied Science Private University (ASU) held an official ceremony to mark the 79th anniversary of the independence of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, alongside the inauguration of the 2025 Cultural Communities Fair. The event was attended by high-level dignitaries, highlighting the importance of the occasion and the university's role as a cultural and academic institution.

The celebration was held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Mustafa Al-Rawashdeh, Minister of Culture, with the presence of former Prime Minister Dr. Abdelraouf Al-Rawabdeh, along with a host of ministers, senior officials, ambassadors, diplomatic attachés, and embassy representatives. Also attending were Dr. Haitham Abdullah Abu Khadijah, Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees; Prof. Dr. Samihah Jarrah, the University President; faculty and administrative members; and a large number of students from various nationalities.

The event featured national and artistic performances by ASU students, expressing deep patriotism and loyalty to Jordan and its wise Hashemite leadership. The university also launched the "Cultural Forum", a series of panel discussions and interactive workshops with the participation of prominent local and regional figures.

On the sidelines of the celebration, the university inaugurated the Cultural Communities Fair, with students representing over 15 countries showcasing traditional heritage, national identity, and cultural diversity. This reflected ASU’s inclusive academic environment and its commitment to cultural dialogue. Additionally, a Historical Documents Exhibition related to Jordan’s independence was opened in collaboration with the Royal Documentation Center.

In a remarkable tribute, the university honored former Minister Zaid Hamzeh, in recognition of his distinguished national contributions. Born on the very day of Jordan's independence, he stands as a living witness to the nation’s modern history. The university also honored Dr. Abdelraouf Al-Rawabdeh, the first Prime Minister during the reign of His Majesty King Abdullah II, for his pioneering role in national service. A special recognition was also presented to Dr. Nidal Al-Ayasrah, Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture, as a representative of the event’s patron.

This annual celebration reflects ASU's commitment to promoting cultural awareness, instilling national values, and fostering global openness by embracing intellectual and cultural diversity within an environment of mutual respect and appreciation.
