BAT JORDAN AND REGIE EXPAND PARTNERSHIP TO MANUFACTURE EXPORT QUALITY PRODUCTS IN JORDAN

THE AGREEMENT AIMS TO SUPPORT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND CREATE EMPLOYEMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR JORDANIANS

Press Release – BAT Jordan, a subsidiary of the BAT Group, a leading, multi-category consumer goods business with a purpose to build A Better Tomorrow™, announced a partnership with Regie, a public institution in Lebanon, aimed at manufacturing export quality products in Jordan to elevate the country’s export sector.

By manufacturing Regie products in Jordan and exporting them to Lebanon for sale in the local market, BAT Jordan is expected to see employment opportunities at its production facilities increase by 12 -15%, which will support the Kingdom's economic growth and development.



The partnership was announced during an event held under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Trade and the Minister of Labor, in the presence of:

-The Esteemed Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Mrs. Dana Al-Zu'bi
The Esteemed Mr.  Zaher Al-Qatarneh, Secretary General of the Ministry of Investment
- The Esteemed Mr. Jamal Al-Saadi, representing the Director General of the Income and Sales Tax Department,
The Esteemed Mr. Mohammed Al-Jitan, Deputy Director of the Jordan Chamber of Industry

Also in attendance were representatives from Regie, including:

- Mr. George Hobeika, Mr. Mazen Abboud and Mr. Essam Salman from its Board of Directors
- Mr. Salah Zeidan, Technical Advisor
- Mr. Paul Ghanima, Manufacturing Manager

The BAT factory in Jordan was selected for the project owing to its strong track record of manufacturing excellence, and awards including being BAT's first carbon neutral site (Scope 1 & 2) in the Middle East and one of the leading quality production manufacturing facilities in the Asia-Pacific & Middle East region.

Commenting on the initiative, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Mrs. Dana Al-Zoubi, said: "We are pleased today to embrace the launch of the partnership between BAT Jordan and Regie in Amman, as it represents a role model for partnerships between leading Arab institutions." She added, “One of the most important outputs of the collaborative approach through which we engaged the private sector in  the policy development process and economic legislation, was launching the vision of economic modernization, through which we seek to implement effective steps to attract foreign investments and stimulate national investments through local and foreign investment , public-private partnerships and major projects, so that this contributes to increasing GDP by the year 2033.” On the other hand, Mrs. Dana Al-Zoubi stated “The Investment Environment Regulation Law, which was drafted in coordination and agreement with all economic actors from the public and private sectors, was approved to contribute to simplifying procedures, improving the work environment and providing everything necessary to enhance the ability of investments in the Kingdom to compete regionally and globally.”



Pavel Bocharov, General Manager of BAT Middle East, said: "Today marks a special event for our operations in Jordan and we are honored to be recognized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade as well as the Ministry of Investment. This support has enabled us to strengthen our cooperation with Regie, thereby contributing to the continued development of the Kingdom. Through this mutual trust, we look forward to expanding our operations while benefiting the communities in which we operate in."

Mr. Mazen Abboud a member of the Regie Board of Directors, added: "Regie chose to start its journey of manufacturing outside the borders with a modest step in Amman, and here we are signing our first contract in the Kingdom known for its history and holiness, so the partnership can grow. Regie chose to sign with BAT Jordan, so thank you to the Kingdom for hosting this event and thank you to BAT for the partnership.”
BAT Lebanon has enjoyed a longstanding relationship with the Regie for more than twenty years. It is built on the shared goal of providing superior products to adult consumers. Due to its success, the two parties decided to expand their alliance to Jordan as well.
