China, Japan set for FIBA Asia Cup finals

AMMAN — China on Friday qualified for the finals of the Asia Women’s Basketball Cup Level A, with a 93-69 victory over South Korea (50-25 in the first half), in a match held at Prince Hamzeh Hall. اضافة اعلان

In turn, Japan beat Australia by 67-65 (36-31 in the first half), and will play China in the finals at 3pm on Sunday, while South Korea will play Australia at 12pm to determine who’s taking home the bronze medal.  

Yuri Lee was the most outstanding player on the Chinese team, scoring 20 points with 12 follow-ups, 2 passes, and 1 blocked shot, while Yang EunYoung from the Korean team stood out with 12 points, 4 follow-ups, 1 pass, one steal, and one blocked shot.

China scored 17 turn overs, while Korea scored 12, and China scored 19-9 fast break points and China’s substitute players were also more efficient, scoring 42 group points compared to South Korea’s 34 points. 

From Japan’s side, Saki Hayashi stood out with 17 points, 7 follow-ups, 3 passes, and 3 steals. Meanwhile, Australia’s Lauren Scarf scored 12 points with a “double double,” 15 follow-ups, 1 steal, and 1 blocked shot. 

In terms of group numbers; Japan scored 23 turn-overs, while Australia scored 16, and 12 fast breaks, and Australia’s substitute players were more efficient, scoring 30 points to Japan’s 18.
